The view of the water doesn’t get any more spectacular. From its high location on the southernmost tip of the exclusive Corinthian Island, just a short walk from Tiburon in Marin County, this exquisite Italian villa overlooks the Tony Corinthian Yacht Club and the marina to one side and the San Francisco Yacht Club on the other hand. In the distance, see the skyline of San Francisco, Alcatraz, and Angel Island, as well as the iconic Golden Gate Bridge that towers over neighboring Belvedere Island.

“Its location makes it a true sailor’s paradise,” said Bill Bullock, Golden Gate Sotheby’s International listing agent, to Robb Report. “You couldn’t be any closer to the boat action.”

While it has the Dolce Vita style and romance of an Italian villa from the 1920s, this 6,340-square-foot home only dates from 2002.

Wealthy Mexican hotel and restaurant developer Javier Burillo – his family owns Grupo Televisa, the world’s largest Spanish-speaking entertainment company – bought a crumbling piece of land on the site in the late 1990s, leveled it, and spent more than two years building this best-of -the best masterpiece.

According to Bullock, Burillo asked renowned Dallas architect Nunzio DeSantis to design the house. Part of the challenge was to press the villa onto the triangular 4-acre site.

Despite the compact lot, DeSantis designed a home with no lack of privacy, ample off-street parking, a three-car garage, and a five-hole putting green.

Ornate wrought iron gates open to the car park in front of the yellow facade of the house. The imposing arched entrance leads into an elegant foyer with a curved, floating limestone staircase and a view through the large room of the bay.

In addition to the large coffered room and dining room with beamed ceilings, the adjacent kitchen of the chef, which is equipped with high-quality appliances from Miele and Wolf, a large island with a marble top and bleached wooden floors is on this level.

One of the real highlights of the house is the spectacular suite on the entire floor. The arched doors open to a huge deck with breathtaking views of San Francisco and a hot tub. The suite also has two his and hers offices and two walk-in closets.

A staircase leads to the lower level, which includes a spacious family room, three further bedrooms and not one but two wine cellars – one for red wines and one for whites. French doors lead onto the lawn.

Here, behind towering hedges, is an outdoor seating and dining terrace, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, the putting green, a long, narrow fish pond and a stunning metal sculpture.

“It’s all the grandeur and elegance of the Italian Riviera here in Marin County,” says Bullock. “Still, it’s within walking distance of Tiburon’s shops and restaurants and a short ferry ride to San Francisco.”

Records show the home was first listed for $ 29.9 million in June 2020, dropped to $ 27.5 million in October last year, and was again reduced to $ 25.5 million in November. It will be auctioned from this Thursday without reservation.
