San Francisco firefighters rescued a man Monday morning after he fell into the bay’s cold waters near the Ferry Building.

After reports that a man fell into the water, forces were called to the area along the city’s east waterfront between the Ferry Building and Pier 1 at around 7 a.m.

The San Francisco police and California Highway Patrol officers also came to assist with the rescue effort. Officers could pull the man to nearby rocks with a lanyard.

Firefighters reached him by boat and, according to firefighters, successfully brought him ashore. Local medical professionals rated the victim. His condition was not immediately clear.
