SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – “Bearsun” gave himself a fitting name – his goal of walking 400 miles from Los Angeles to San Francisco in a bear suit is like a ray of sunshine for anyone who can see him in person.
Standing under the playful costume is Jesse Larios, hoping to raise a lot of money for a nonprofit organization by the time he makes it to San Francisco.
Our resident bear hunter Yoli Aceves caught up with him on a stopover in Morgan Hill, a town just over 20 miles south of San Jose.
The giggling bear said he always did “crazy things” and it was just an idea he had. And he didn’t have to buy the suit brand new – he wore it before when he ran a marathon last year.
“I always wanted to do something to give back to the charity or community, just anyone, so I thought to myself […] Let me just raise some money while I do that, too, ”Bearsun said.

Once he’s on the Bay Area coast, he’ll post on his social media and ask followers to vote on which charities the funds will go to.
He hadn’t checked how much he’d raised by Thursday – despite assuring his paws weren’t causing him any problems using his phone. (He pulls his hands out of the suit).
Bearsun also answered some very important logistical questions for us – how he makes it to the toilet or how he puts his huge bear head in a potty.
We let you see his interview above for the answer.
