SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) – San Francisco has a hard-earned reputation as a drinking city.

The pandemic put an end to that – at least in the local pubs.

Now bars are starting to welcome guests again – so we think it’s right to rename Dine and Dish to Dine and Drink tonight.

Let the shakers begin! From the city’s north beach to the Marina and Mission.

“Noticed a lot more people on the way!”

After a long, dry year, guests are finally dripping away. Along the Embarcadero, San Francisco bars and cocktail lounges like High Dive are only too happy to welcome customers.

“We’re ready to party, so bring your game. We have our shots so that we can serve your shots! “

Outside on the back patio, Red’s Java House serves a cold one with a view of the pier.

On the way – the Hi Brow Waterbar restaurant and bar are doing everything they can to adapt to the new standards.

“People want to see and be seen and hey, they want to have a drink too.”

There is food and drink outside. A couple of tables in the lounge and now the bar is only open to the lucky few.

City rules say that bargoers can now drink standing up instead of being tied to a table, and you don’t have to serve food with the liquor.

Here at the popular Kokkari Estatorio – one of the liveliest bar scenes is muted right now.

“A lot of people come to the window and ask themselves if they can have a drink – that’s not possible yet.”

This couple loves not having to push their way through the cocktail crowds.

Even if the bars in town don’t fully open again until summer, bartenders and customers still enjoy happy hour.

Cheers to your health.
