SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – A COVID-19 vaccine shortage has forced Sutter Health to temporarily stop giving its first vaccines and postpone appointments for thousands of second injections.

Earlier this week officials said they had started canceling appointments due to a vaccine shortage – up to 90,000.

In an email to KPIX 5 Friday night, Sutter officials said they would likely receive enough vaccine shipments in the next two weeks to postpone canceled appointments for the second injection. .

On his Web site, Sutter says: “Due to the extremely limited supply, we are not planning an appointment for the first dose.”
