California College of the Arts (CCA) selected Studio Gang from three finalists to create an expanded art and design college campus for the San Francisco school. The expansion of CCA in San Francisco, currently split between San Francisco and Oakland, allows all of the school’s programs to be accommodated in one location.

Over the next five years, Studio Gang and CCA will work together to create a new campus for 2,000 students, 600 faculty members, 250 employees, and 34 academic programs, and to be a model for sustainable building and action.

The selection process was extremely thorough and included intensive review and key input from many constituencies, commented CCA Board Chairwoman C. Diane Christensen. The visionary work of Studio Gang, the commitment to innovation and sustainability as well as the collaborative working style make the company an excellent addition to this project and to CCA. Jeanne Gang leads an exceptional team who are very familiar with San Francisco and our emerging neighborhood at the intersection of the city’s innovation corridor, the new DoReMi arts district and Mission Bay. We are excited about the prospect of partnering with Studio Gang and we sincerely hope that our new campus will help redefine 21st century art education.
