SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KRON) – An Asian man who was badly beaten on Market Street in San Francisco this week speaks up.

It is one of several violent attacks on Asian Americans that is causing outrage.

Maureen Kelly from KRON4 spoke to the man about his terrible experience.

The injuries of the 59-year-old Vallejo man improved slightly after the attack.

Photos show what he looked like shortly after the heavy beating. His eyes were blackened and puffy from what the police call an unprovoked attack.

At 2 p.m. Monday, the travel agent was walking on their lunch break on their first day of the office on Market Street in New Montgomery after working remotely during the pandemic – when jumping from behind.

Elderly Asian woman attacked, robbed in Daly City

Police say the person who did this slit the face of a 64-year-old white man at the BART station on 16th Street just half an hour earlier.

The next day, police arrested 32-year-old Jorge Devis-Milton. He was charged with six crimes, including serious chaos.

Yu Chang, who is of Chinese and Filipino descent, makes him one of the recent victims of several high profile attacks on Asian Americans.

Man attacks Asian woman, goes on violent crime in San Jose

Eight people, mostly Asian women, were shot dead near Atlanta on Tuesday. There have been several violent, even fatal, attacks on Asian seniors in the Bay Area.

Yu Chang made a plea for peace on Friday.

The alleged attacker is in custody. He is due to be charged on Monday morning.
