SAN FRANCISCO, May 26, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Afterpay (ASX: APT), the leading provider of “buy now, pay later,” announced today San Francisco as the home of its new North American headquarters.

Afterpay’s new North American headquarters is located in the 11-story landmark Phelan Building at 760 Market Street, between the Financial District and Union Square technology and retail centers. This makes it the ideal location to support the company’s rapid growth in North America.

Afterpay will occupy 50,000 square meters on two floors for its 300+ employees in the Bay Area. The layout and functions of the office support Afterpay’s new flexible workspace approach, with which employees can work from the office, remotely, or a mixture of both. The office will have more than 25 conference rooms, a large room for company-wide meetings and events, a product testing lab, a play area, a full-service coffee bar, and several open spaces for collaboration.

“Afterpay’s new office and location perfectly capture Afterpay’s business at the intersection of technology, finance, shopping and culture,” he said Nick Molnar, Co-CEO and Co-Founder at Afterpay. “We are thrilled to be establishing our North American headquarters in this great city and to welcome our employees to this beautiful space that combines the city’s rich history with a modern and flexible work environment.”

With its triangular architecture, the Phelan building is reminiscent of the Flatiron building in new York and was built after the original structure was destroyed by fire in the San Francisco 1906 earthquake. The building has been refurbished in recent years with a unique architectural interior that features exposed ceilings and other creative surfaces while still being historically preserved San Francisco.

Afterpay works with RAISE, a technology-based commercial real estate broker, on workplace strategy, brokerage and construction project management. Companies carefully looked at the entire market before settling on the Phelan Building, which is the only building of its kind and has the technical and creative skills that make it a great place to work San Francisco.

Afterpay was named one of the Bay Area’s Best Places to Work this year by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal, and is committed to building on that with its new office location.
