PLEASANTON (BCN) – Bay Area residents will have to wait a little longer for cotton candy, horse rides and animals this year as the 2021 Alameda County Fair has been postponed from June to October, fair officials said Thursday.

This year’s fair was postponed because the fairground in the east of the district serves as a vaccination and distribution point for food.

The vaccinations and the distribution of the food on the exhibition grounds are expected to last until June. Up to 4,000 people are vaccinated every day on the exhibition grounds.

“We’re excited to have the show attendees in October and our team is working hard to ensure that we continue to host a Safety First event for the community,” said Jerome Hoban, CEO of the Alameda County Fair Explanation.

“The show may look a little different in 2021, but we assure you that it is the same good time that you can build memories that will last a lifetime,” said Hoban.

The show will now take place from October 22nd to 31st at its regular location at 4501 Pleasanton Ave. held in Pleasanton.

Attendance at the show is expected to be limited and visitors will likely need to purchase tickets online in advance.

Whenever possible, the fair will use government-recommended non-contact, cashless systems to purchase food, beverages, tickets, parking lots and rides.

Exhibition officials expect visitors to wear masks during the exhibition and to check their temperature before entering the site.

Anyone who has a valid ticket for the trade fair in 2020 or who received a ticket for a drive-in cinema last year or this year can reserve a ticket for the autumn trade fair.
